CACD in partnership with Anne Donnelly from the Churches and Community Work Alliance (CCWA) recently organised a Study Visit to Jethro Centre, Lurgan. The Jethro Centre, is a social enterprise managed by a charity called Shankhill Parish Caring Association and is a purpose built community centre constructed in 2006. There is a specialised area dedicated to childcare—a playgroup and a before and after schools club. A wide rage of groups use the centre. Cedars is a group for older people and it engages in a extensive range of activities from crafts and a choir to the more energetic activities such as badminton.
Support groups such as the Alzhiemers Society, Downs and Proud also use the centre for their activites.
These are only small example of the number of groups using the Jethro Centre full details can be found on their website www.jethrocentre.org.
