Water, Walls & Walks.....
The Boyne and Drogheda
Members of County Armagh Community Development (CACD) recently took part in an Historical Study Visit to The Boyne and Drogheda.
Tour Guide was Barbara Ferguson and the day began at The Boyne Heritage Centre. An Audio Visual Display gave the history of The Boyne and the surrounding area. Participants then were able to view replica artefacts – canons and kegs of gun powder.

Over lunch the group met with 12 members of Drogheda Community Forum. Paulette McArdle spoke about the work of the forum which acts as a support agent to empower disadvantaged groups, to identify their needs and to access resources improving their quality of life. The forum is community led and has an active membership of over 30 voluntary/community groups. They organise cross border exchange visits and mentor groups on funding opportunities.
David McMullen then gave a talk about CACD.

The group along with members of Drogheda Community Forum then visited Millmount Museum and Mortello Tower a fortified army barracks which now houses a Military Exhibition and artefacts from the battle of the Boyne.
