Tour of Gosford Castle

On Saturday 22 May 2010 over 80 people enjoyed a historical talk and guided tour of Gosford Castle.

80 members of various Community groups across County Armagh recently attended a networking event in the grounds of Gosford Forest Park (Markethill) organised by County Armagh Community Development.
The event also involved guided tours of Gosford Castle by Mr Adrian Andrews, plus a very informative and entertaining talk on the history of Gosford and the Acheson family by local historian Mrs Mary McHugh.
The event concluded with a BBQ in glorious weather which added greatly to the ambience of the day.
For many people this was the first opportunity to see inside the interior of the historic building since its earlier use as a hotel and as development of exclusive apartments continues apace such opportunities are unlikely to be available in the future.
County Armagh Community Development would wish to thank Neil O’Brien Gosford Castle Construction for granting access to the Castle, Mr Adrian Andrews, Mrs Mary McHugh and the Forestry Division of the Department of Agriculture for their cooperation.
