The play written by Declan Gorman especially for Castleblayney and the surrounding border area is based on local interviews and portrays a one hundred year old Blayney woman being looked after by a Polish carer. On her one hundredth birthday the lady lives through a life time’s memories. Scenes are portrayed of the living and those long dead – days in hayfields, farmyards, small towns, stories of border crossings, rural pranks, the world of bicycles; through dancehall days seaside holidays to the cyber world of today which she is still trying to understand. As the performance progressed we discovered what she had in common with her Polish carer and the audience .
This is a professionally directed production with 40-50 local actors and performers and is a journey to discover the likeness of our existence in this area.
