Study Visit to Irish Linen Centre and Lower Quarter Orange Hall


CACDrecently hosted a study visit to the Irish Linen Centre, Lisburn.

A guided tour giving information and history of Irish Linen comprised of a presentation on the processes involved in the treatment of flax in order to turn it into linen. Practical demonstrations were viewed in spinning and weaving.

After lunch the group travelled to Lower Quarter Orange Hall, Maghergalll. Elizabeth Henderson spoke about the activities taking place in the Hall. It is currently used by a number of different groups Activities include a Senior Citizens Group, Craft Classes, Pipes and Drums tuition classes, Dancing and Social Events.
