County Armagh Community Development (CACD) hosted an Open Day in the Millennium Court Arts Centre William Street Portadown on Wednesday 25th May as part of Community Relations Week
The event took the form of a “drop in” with large numbers calling in to experience the work of County Armagh Community Development and see at first hand some of the community work that is ongoing in Orange Halls across the Portadown area. Community groups participating included, Ballybay Community Association, Carleton Street Community Development Association, Carleton Street Over 50’s Club, Derrykeevan Community Association, Derryadd Community Association and Edenderry Community Development Association.
These groups provided displays illustrating the wide variety of activities in Orange Halls including arts and crafts, educational classes, sports and keep fit activities and a wide variety of music and dance genres.

The Community Education Officer from the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland was also in attendance to speak on the history and role of Orangeism today

During the evening certificates were presented to community activists who had completed training courses organised by CACD in Community Relations, Child Protection and the Grand Orange Lodge Educating Ourselves programme.
