In the Footsteps of Heros
30 people attended a musical production presented by Border Minority Group entitled "In the footsteps of Heros"'From the Somme to D Day' in the Iontas Centre, Castleblayney on Saturday 25th September.
The production took the audience on a nostalgic, yet thought provoking journey through World I and World War II in the form of sketches, poetry, famous speeches, music and song. It followed in the footsteps of a young boy “Jimmy” played by Andrew Burnside, as he enlisted into the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, through his training at Finner Camp and then to the Battle of the Somme. When the Americans entered the War, they brought with them their unique style of music which was performed by “Nicola Moody & The Moodettes”. Other Performers included Claire & Jackie McElhinney, David Moore, David Gibson, Derek, Ross & Shirley Hussey, Nigel Scott, Neil Moody, The Home Guard & the 9th Battalion Corps of Drums Band.
This was an excellent and moving production. Highly recommended by all attendees.
