Aims & Objectives


AIM ONE
To provide support to member groups
Objectives are to:
  • Encourage informal partnership working between member groups
  • Encourage and help develop internal and external communications between member groups
  • Lobby relevant individuals and strategy organisations on community issues on behalf of all member groups
  • Improve communication between CACD and the individual member groups
  • Provide advice and information for all member groups
  • Highlight successes of member groups
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of community and member group needs

AIM TWO
To build on existing community participation across Protestant Communities in Co. Armagh
Objectives are to:
  • Continue to increase the membership of CACD
  • Promote community involvement in urban areas
  • Encourage the increased use of Orange Halls as community venues
  • Increase membership of community groups using Orange Halls
  • Develop leadership skills in the Protestant Community
  • Continue to support the development of existing and new groups in rural areas

AIM THREE
To build the capacity of participants in member groups
Objectives are to:
  • Continue to develop the knowledge and skills of member groups, committee members and staff, accessing training as required
  • Build confidence among the participants in community groups
  • Facilitate study visits and share examples of best practice with the wider community
  • Promote examples of best practice with and between member groups

AIM FOUR
To play an active role in building a better understanding of Protestant culture
Objectives are to:
  • Assist community groups using Orange Halls to integrate community relations principles and considerations within all aspects of their work
  • Offer community relations programmes which develop respect and tolerance for different traditions and cultures using a variety of mediums
  • Encourage and develop better cross border and inter community relationships
  • Be a driver for change by educating the Protestant Community on Orange culture, heritage and identity
  • Take every opportunity to educate the wider community on Protestant culture heritage, identity and on the role Orangeism plays in this

AIM FIVE
To develop and build on the existing effectiveness of CACD
Objectives are to:
  • Raise the profile and promote the image of CACD
  • Ensure the sustainability and continuity of work by identifying and securing a range of suitable funding options
  • Continue to increase the knowledge and skills of committee members and staff, accessing training as required
  • Review the effectiveness of existing structures and governance
  • Build up a good working relationship with the press/media
  • Develop relationships with external agencies
